Connected

description

Connected was the name of a youth exchange project with young participants from seven countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Finland, Georgia, Ukraine, and Portugal. They spent a week together in Telavi, Georgia, between 12 and 19 October 2013.

Here they learnt about different cultures and similarities between people across cultures, spoke English together, and most of all made friends. The participants collaborated in workshops of dance, music, and visual art, and the result was a performance presented for the young audience in two local schools. I was also facilitating the visual art workshop for this project. A selection of 25 pictures from this project became an exhibition in the public Library of Stybbekøbing, Denmark in January 2014, and it served as a tool for dissemination of results.

In 2017 the pictures were also shown part of the exhibition called “Take the Art Train” in Gallery Wärme, Copenhagen, as a celebration of 20 years of Arttrain Association projects.

Personal

This was a story of hope worth documenting. These beautiful young people, coming from such different cultural backgrounds. are becoming adults in neighbouring a Europe that is changing, and through them bringing less discrimination and more love and kindness, all that by learning from each other and keeping connected.
